cheap and chic ;)

ok the bag is done babiby.. and i have no idea wat grade i got for the stitching part of it.. will get to know next week. crossing fingers.



the theme: was to take a traditional motif and combine it with contemporary styling/ trends in handbags. there was a lot of freedom given to us regarding the style/size/shape.



so i took the kanjeevram sari (mothers :) and mixed with a very lovely shade of hawt pink. and what i got was the picture put up. i love it. and instead of a traditional strap my teacher helped me modify a belt and make the strap. and i quilted the handbag instead of just stitching it together.. maybe i can make a cushion with the left over sari ..



p.s: mum is still distraught over the loss of a very expensive sari.. lol.. but its all for art baiby..

this is a picture of the beauutiifuul cooum 'river'. i have heard horror stories regarding the river from my brother who rows everyday along the secenic banks ;).



p.s; you need to get a tetanus shot if you fall into the water. so be very afraid. and you have a free trip to the zoo.. i have seen buffaloes, pigs, cows.. but never a fish in that water if you can call it that...

its the time to disco.

there is nothing great or even remotely clear in this picture.. but its a memory. this was taken at a beach house partay on 19th june 2005.. and it was one crazy partay. that much i remember. as well as getting stopped by the cops on the way back.. and my friends fast talking saving us from a LOT of shit.. ;) its a memory. a story...



as you might have guessed it was taken when i was leaving the partay.. and the only thing you could see from a distance was the lights... ;) good in one way dad does not know wht the picture is even if he saw it.

the house from inside the compound... the number of times i have fallen and grazed my knees on the tar pit (damar - in konkani).. and the then that damn burnol.. god!! but to soothe us grandma would bring orange rasna.. mangalore's equivalent of the cola drinks... ;)

as far as i can rememeber each and everyone of us cousins have fallen down here.. its tradition.. and usually it happened when we were younger.. and were inevitably carried in and treated like kings for the rest of the day.. but it was damn painful... that much i can tell!

ok i dont exactly remember the name of the river... but i do remember the times i have come here wiht my cousins.. the water is crystal clear.. and cool. and we would try to 'swim' much to the horror of the adults who dont know swimming might i add... ;)

i found the picture only today! this was taken on 27th october'05 at 7 in the morning when chennai was flooded! yeah i woke up at 7 on the one day college went under water. ;) but yeah the water levels were rising like crazy.. and all my bro and me could think of was no college!
